What makes an image beautiful?
Truth. Confidence. Authenticity. Simplicity.
You may not know Kelli, but you get a sense of her grace, her strength, her talent and her beauty – both internal and external – from these images.
When Kelli asked me to photograph some dance portraits for her, she told me it was so that she could show her kids someday – ‘hey, look what Mommy could do.’ Indeed, she is an absolutely amazing dancer (have you ever tried to jump in the sand? Try doing it over and over and over and over again with perfect technique.) I set out to capture not only her talent, but also the emotion behind her dancing, her love for the art form, and her beautiful spirit.
Thank you, Kelli, for waking up at 5:00 a.m. and allowing me to create these memories for you. I am in awe of your talent and sharing the sunrise with you was something special that I will not soon forget (and neither will the fishermen who enjoyed the morning’s entertainment.) ❤
